non-violence philosophy and emergence of "soft man"

non-violence philosophy

The online encyclopedia,Wikipedia, defines nonviolence as a philosophy and strategy for social change that rejects the use of physical violence. Here I just mention the names of two people who are the champions of nonviolence movements: Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi. A simple search over the Internet can provide information about their philosophy and instead of a copy-paste of those available information I focus on a number of issues I think are relevant to current non-violence movements such as Iranian Green movement. First I insist that I will hesitate to call this a green "revolution" as some writers and bloggers call it. All major revolutions of recent history were some how violent and it seems that the problem of a revolution or a sudden change not being able to resolve social problems as promised by revolution leaders goes back to the fact that a real and progressive change can be done neither violently nor suddenly and history of 20th century is a good proof for this hypothesis. The subject of "continuous revolution" is familiar to part of the spectrum of leftist movements. However, it seems that there is a contradiction between the two words of "continuous" and "revolution". If revolution is a "sudden" change, how it can be continuous. Although the idea of continuous revolution somehow emphasises on importance of non violence elements of a movement it still does not reject the use of violence in achieving social change.
Evolution and natural selection in both agricultural and Industrial era were in favour of a violent and muscular man. Let's call this caveman the "rough man". The author believes that centuries of social evolution has created a new information era in which the phenomenon of natural-social selection has replaced natural selection. This simply means that the modern man which I call him "soft man" is going to win over the "rough man". There are a number of research programs in the field of genetics that prove this hypothesis but i do not want to discuss this subject in this article.
Understanding the psychology of violence and the role of a "soft man" in stopping the cycle of violence is important and this can be the subject of another article. When violence between two individuals or groups of people breaks, it looks like a game of table tennis, the harder you hit the ball, the harder would be the response. The important issue is that it can only stop if one side of the game is a "soft man" or an evolutionary (and not revolutionary) partisan as I call him. This is a well informed intellectual who believes in nonviolence philosophy.
So, in my belief current green movement of Iranian people is in no way a velvet revolution as some call it. It is a green evolution which has brought up with itself the emergence of "soft man" and the evolutionary partisans of new century, those men and women who everyday create a new form of non-violence resistance, so much creativity and intelligence that is going to transform the social networks of the glob into central processor of green evolution with continuous explosion of bright non-violence ideas.
This is what can be continuous: A green evolution.
